Human Rights Body Submission

This submission details the US–El Salvador agreement transferring 288 people to indefinite, incommunicado detention at CECOT, El Salvador’s mega-prison, and urges the UN Special Rapporteur on migrants to demand due process and transparency.

CGRS submitted input to the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants, exemplifying how several U.S. externalization policies and enforcement cooperation undermine refugee protections and violate the rights of those fleeing persecution and harm.

CGRS submitted input to the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing for his report on land governance, land management, and the right to adequate housing, highlighting systemic disregard and erosion of collective land ownership rights in Honduras.

CGRS submitted input to the Special Rapporteur on the Human Right to a Healthy Environment highlighting deficiencies in environmental assessments and the failure to adequately consult Indigenous communities in Honduras.

CGRS submitted input to the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Development, focusing on the nexus between gender equality and development. The submission highlights the challenges Honduran women face from climate change, disasters, and environmental degradation, and ways to address them.

This submission to the UN Human Rights Council documents how current U.S. policies denying migrants the right to seek asylum violate both domestic and international law, and have a disproportionate impact on Haitian and other Black asylum seekers forced to stay in Mexico.

CGRS and our partners requested that the Inter-American Commission on on Human Rights extend and expand its Precautionary Measures to better protect displaced Haitian women and girls at grave risk of sexual violence.

CGRS submitted input to the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples for its report on Indigenous Peoples’ right to traditional economies, highlighting conditions in Honduras and urging inclusion of Indigenous communities in decision-making processes.

CGRS submitted input to the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants, addressing the phenomenon of missing migrants. This submission highlights how U.S. border policies place asylum seekers at risk, including exposure to kidnapping and disappearances.
