Héctor is currently a Senior Program Associate for Acacia Center for Justice, providing program operations technical assistance to organizations conducting legal orientation and self-help services at various immigration courts in the U.S. Previously, Héctor was a Legal Director for the International Rescue Committee, overseeing legal services for its Dallas and Abilene offices. Héctor was also Director of Removal Defense for Santa Fe Dreamers Project, aiding asylum-seekers detained in El Paso, Texas and waiting in Mexico. Upon graduating from UC Law SF in 2017, Héctor was an Immigrant Justice Corps fellow with Immigration Equality, where they provided specialized immigration representation for the LGBTQ+ and HIV-positive communities. Héctor has collaborated with CGRS in publishing a report on gender-based violence in Guatemala, participated in human rights investigations in Haiti, researched and drafted refugee status determinations with UNHCR in Washington, D.C., and worked at several other immigration organizations in California and Texas.
