The Center for Gender & Refugee Studies (CGRS) proudly endorses the American Dream and Promise Act of 2025, introduced today by Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) alongside the bill’s co-authors, Representatives Nydia Velázquez (D-NY) and Yvette Clarke (D-NY), and co-leads, Representatives Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Lou Correa (D-CA), Judy Chu (D-CA), and Delia Ramirez (D-IL). This bill would provide a long overdue pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) beneficiaries.
“Dreamers, TPS holders, and DED recipients are essential members of our communities,” Kate Jastram, CGRS Director of Policy and Advocacy, said today. “For too many years, they have been forced to live in uncertainty. Without a pathway to permanent status, the Trump administration’s cruel mass deportation agenda threatens to upend the lives they have built for themselves and their families in the United States. It is past time for Congress to provide our immigrant neighbors and families with the security they deserve. We urge lawmakers to support the American Dream and Promise Act and step up to protect the rights and dignity of all immigrants and people seeking safety in the United States.”
