Please join the Center for Gender & Refugee Studies, Public Law Center, and Santa Ana College for a MCLE training in Santa Ana, California. This interactive training will focus on preparing individuals seeking asylum for interviews before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service and testifying in immigration court. It will address considerations to take into account regarding the individual’s age, developmental stage, trauma history and other factors. It will also cover testimony preparation for lay and expert witnesses. The passage of time may introduce additional challenges, including changes in asylum law and policy, memory issues, and new developments impacting the case. Through role plays and case scenarios, we will encourage attendees to participate and discuss best practices for testimony preparation.
