Julie’s work focuses on expanding CGRS's expert witness database and developing training materials to support attorneys representing asylum seekers, including universal declarations from country conditions experts. During law school, Julie was part of the 2019 UC Law San Francisco Refugee and Human Rights Clinic's fact-finding delegation to El Salvador, where she interviewed Supreme Court Justices, judges from specialized courts, and human rights activists. She was a law clerk for the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and CGRS. Julie volunteered with Al Otro Lado in Tijuana, Mexico at the height of the family separation crisis.

Prior to law school, Julie volunteered at the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant. Before immigrating to the United States Julie worked with a European Union human rights project in Colombia, South America, in the Urabá, Choco, and Darién regions. She is the co-writer and editor of a training curriculum, How to Teach Health, published by the Hesperian Foundation in Berkeley.
