Julia oversees CGRS’s individual donor program and provides strategic planning and implementation of individual giving campaigns and cultivating donor relationships. Julia holds an M.A in Migration and Refugee Studies from The American University in Cairo and spent a semester interning remotely with Al Otro Lado’s Border Rights Project. Her master’s research focused on the impacts of border politics, racialization, and marginalization on the lived experiences and mobilities of African and Haitian asylum seekers temporarily residing in Tijuana, Mexico, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before joining CGRS, Julia worked at Church World Service in Durham, North Carolina providing refugees and other immigrants social services in employment case management and professional skills development.
